27.5.2026

Call for proposals from the National Theatre of Greece for creators to participate in the International Festival of New Theatre Media organised as part of project ΟΠΣ 6003007 of the Attica 2021-2027 NSRF Regional Programme

Theme: Memory
The National Theatre of Greece invites creators to submit proposals for new theatrical works and performance pieces exploring the theme of collective or personal memory for presentation at the International Festival of New Theatre Media organised as part of project ΟΠΣ 6003007 of the Attica 2021-2027 NSRF Regional Programme.

Proposals may take the form of original works, plays from the Greek and international repertoire, adaptations of literary or cinematic works, and hybrid performance formats. All proposals must incorporate contemporary new media practices.

The Festival aims to be a dynamic hub for artistic exchange, research and innovation focusing on modern stage practices and their relationship with technology, digital experience, and collective or personal memory.

How do we tell our stories today? What new theatrical media can we use to tell them? Might they be expressive, narrative, technological or digital? How is memory reflected in the body, speech, image, or in the digital traces we leave behind? And how can the stage function as a site for recalling, recording, or reconstructing it?

Through the coexistence of various aesthetics, methodologies, and cultural references, the Festival seeks to bring Greek artists into creative dialogue with theatre-makers and companies from abroad.

The production selected for participation in the Festival must be newly created for the Festival and must not have been previously performed. It will be presented in December 2026. The National Theatre of Greece will cover the cost of the production and provide spaces for its rehearsal and performance. The creative team may comprise no more than ten people, while the cast may include no more than five performers.

Interested parties are invited to submit proposals which must contain:

  1. The title of the work/concept
  2. A summary of the work or concept (up to 200 words)
  3. An artistic proposal (up to 400 words)
  4. A paragraph answering the question: “How does the proposal engage with the theme of memory and contemporary new media practices?” (up to 100 words)
  5. A sample of the text

a) 5 to 10 pages for original works

b) 17 to 20 pages for adaptations

  1. CVs of the key members of the creative team (up to 3 pages)
  2. A portfolio of photographs and videos of previous works. Applicants are encouraged to include at least one video recording of a full production.
